Ex-MLA attacked in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, December 7 - High drama was witnessed at Mallanwala block in the district today when hundreds of Congress workers allegedly attacked senior SAD leaders, including Avtar Singh Minna, SAD district president (rural), Vardev Singh Noni Mann, halqa incharge (Guruharsahai) and former MLA Joginder Singh Jindu.
Talking to The Tribune, Minna alleged that the Executive Officer had yesterday denied NOCs to the Akali-BJP candidates for Mallanwala and Makhu MC elections on flimsy grounds. “Today, Congress workers stopped our candidates from filing papers. When we reached Mallanwala, they attacked our vehicles with bricks and even opened fired on us,” Minna alleged, adding that all that took place at behest of Congress leaders in presence of the police. He said though they escaped unhurt, their vehicles were damaged in the attack.
Later addressing the media, Minna alleged that while the Congress men were taking law in their hands, the administration had become a mute spectator. “No-dues certificates were not given to our candidates even on the last day of the nomination,” Jindu said, adding that the Congress workers had unleashed a reign of terror and were trying to create a sense of fear ahead of the polls.

Senior officers, including Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, and Bhupinder Singh, SSP, Ferozepur, reached the spot. However, no case was registered till the filing of the report. Meanwhile, the video of the incident went viral on social media.
